ABOUT Matt Jones Professional Drummer
Music has been at the centre of my universe since I was a kid. I am so appreciative all these years later to still be doing it full-time as my vocation. I've worked with some of the most talented people in the music industry as well as traveled all over the world doing what I love. Now I live in the U.K., and I have the great privilege of continuing my passions here. Living a life of passion is important, and I can't thank my parents and all my mentors enough for all the support they've given me over the years. From receiving my Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance to working with the Grammy's, to spanning all 7 continents on the planet as a performer, I am extremely grateful. I've worked professionally in virtually every genre from Jazz to Pop, Classical to world, and Rock, and enjoy doing so. I truly love being a freelance drummer and teacher. Freelancing gives me the opportunity to achieve two goals - work independently on a variety of exciting projects, and help others reach new levels of success. Reach out today so we can start collaborating on your drumming skills to take you to the next level.
Drumming Lessons London

Are you an aspiring drummer in London, looking to take your skills to the next level? Finding the right drum teacher can make all the difference in your progress as a musician. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to choose the best instructor for your needs. That's why I've put together this list of tips to help you find a drum teacher in London who will inspire and guide you on your musical journey. Of course, I'm always looking to expand my own roster, but here are some helpful tips for finding a great teacher. From qualifications and experience to teaching style and personality, these tips will help you narrow down your search and find the perfect drum teacher to help you reach your goals.
Look for a Qualified Teacher:
As a drum teacher with a college degree in music performance, I understand the importance of proper education and training. Look for a teacher with a similar background who can provide you with a solid foundation in drumming techniques and theory. Music is a language, and you should be able to read and understand the fundamentals of music. Make sure your drum teacher is qualified to show you how to read music notes and teach you the fundamentals of music theory.
Consider Experience:
Having traveled to over 40 countries as a professional drummer, worked with the Grammys, and done recording sessions, I have a wealth of experience to draw from. Look for a teacher with a similar level of experience who can offer practical insights and advice. There is no point in learning from someone with no professional experience. I started teaching in my early 20s as a way to supplement my income, but quickly fell in love with it. However, my professional experience speaks for itself, having been hired by prominent producers, agents, musical directors, composers, and more. Your teacher should have similar experiences.
Personal Connection:
Learning to play the drums is a personal journey, so finding a teacher with whom you have a good rapport is important. As a drum teacher, I take a personalised approach to teaching, tailoring my lessons to each student's unique needs and interests. I'm told I'm laid back but very professional and easy to get along with. Lessons need to be educational, but if they're not fun, there's no point. You should enjoy your time with your drum teacher.

Convenience:
As a drum teacher in London, I understand the importance of convenience. Look for a teacher who is located in a convenient location and who offers flexible scheduling options to accommodate your busy lifestyle. Personally I'm located in Leigh on Sea. I may not be the most convenient.
Student Success:
Look for a teacher who has a track record of student success. As a drum teacher, I take pride in seeing my students grow and succeed in their drumming journeys, and I'm committed to helping each student reach their full potential. Many of my students have went on to prestigious universities and have succeeded in the industry as a professional drummer.
